De Montfort University Dubai is seeking a talented and experienced individual to join the Faculty of Business and Law as Lecturer in Finance. This full-time academic role is ideal for someone committed to delivering high-quality, globally relevant education within a UK higher education framework.
The role focuses on providing excellent teaching, supporting student learning, and contributing to the development of finance-related programmes. The Lecturer will engage in research and scholarship and may participate in international collaborations as appropriate. The successful candidate will support programme leads, assist teaching teams, and contribute to the broader development of the faculty.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver innovative, student-centric teaching sessions and seminars.
- Support students in their learning activities and create industry engagement opportunities relevant to modules.
- Contribute to developing relationships with local stakeholders and international partners.
- Perform faculty duties such as tutoring students, preparing course reports, and attending course boards.
- Engage in research, scholarly activities, and public engagement to enhance the faculty and university’s reputation.
- Contribute to programme and subject area development in cooperation with the wider team.
- Participate in faculty governance and quality assurance processes.
- Lead modules where allocated, plan and develop new modules, and set assignments at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Carry out administrative responsibilities and support programme leads as required.
- Establish and maintain a portfolio of research activities with realistic prospects of publication.
- Maintain professionalism, collegiality, and cooperation with all staff and students in line with DMU values.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications:
- A relevant honours degree (BA/BSc) in Finance or a related discipline.
- A relevant postgraduate degree and either:
- A PhD in Finance or related field, or
- A relevant professional qualification (e.g., CFA).
- Academic qualifications must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or be eligible for attestation upon offer.
- Candidates must ensure qualifications are eligible for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency or be willing to initiate the process upon appointment.
Experience:
- 2–5 years of teaching experience in finance-related disciplines in higher education.
- Demonstrated teaching in at least three of the following areas:
- Derivatives valuation
- Investment and portfolio management
- Financial Statistics / Econometrics
- Financial Economics
- Knowledge of introductory-level Macroeconomics and Microeconomics is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with statistical software (R, Python) and data visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI, Advanced Excel/VBA).
