De Montfort University Dubai is seeking an experienced and highly motivated academic to join the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media as Senior Lecturer in Software Engineering. This full-time academic role is ideal for an individual passionate about delivering high-quality, industry-relevant education in software engineering while contributing to the ongoing growth of DMU Dubai’s computing programmes.
You will contribute to the design and delivery of a software engineering curriculum that balances critical theoretical foundations with hands-on application. The role requires strong teaching, research, and curriculum development experience, along with a commitment to academic excellence and student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate modules in areas such as Data Structures, Programming, Embedded Systems, and Mobile Application Development.
- Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops that foster active learning.
- Instruct students in research methods relevant to software engineering.
- Evaluate and grade student assessments, providing constructive feedback.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects, offering academic and career guidance.
- Develop innovative teaching materials and enhance curriculum content.
- Design and implement assignments that encourage critical thinking and applied problem-solving.
- Lead on curriculum development, module design, and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate with colleagues on teaching, research, and programme innovation.
- Contribute to research outputs, publications, and scholarly activity aligned with the Faculty’s objectives.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
- A PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field (Required).
- A postgraduate degree (Master’s) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Required).
- All academic qualifications must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or be eligible for attestation upon appointment.
- Candidates must also ensure their qualifications are eligible for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, or be willing to begin this process upon appointment.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in higher education (undergraduate and postgraduate levels) in Computer Science or Software Engineering (Required).
- Industry experience in Software Engineering (Desirable).
- Proven experience supervising student projects and dissertations.
- Evidence of curriculum development and module leadership (Required).
- A record of research and scholarly publications in relevant areas (Required).
- Familiarity with UK higher education systems and blended/digital teaching delivery (Required).
