De Montfort University Dubai is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and student-focused Careers Officer to join our Careers & Employability team. This pivotal role supports the Careers Manager in enhancing graduate employability through employer engagement, placement coordination, and alumni tracking. The postholder will work closely with students, employers, and university stakeholders to ensure a seamless experience that aligns with both student career goals and institutional objectives.
The Careers Officer will play a vital role in building partnerships with employers, managing internship logistics, tracking graduate outcomes, and supporting workshops and career events. The role combines operational execution with relationship building and data management to support the strategic goals of the Careers & Employability Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively build and maintain a database of 500+ UAE/GCC-based employers in key industries such as business, engineering, media, AI, law, and design.
- Secure 80+ internship and job opportunities annually by cultivating new partnerships and sustaining employer relationships.
- Serve as the main point of contact for employers, ensuring effective recruitment support and talent matching.
- Support the drafting and formalization of employer agreements and MoUs.
- Maintain a live alumni employment tracking database and generate bi-annual employment outcome reports for accreditation purposes.
- Collaborate with the Alumni Office to involve graduates in mentorship, guest lectures, and career events.
- Coordinate end-to-end student placement processes, including briefings, evaluations, and conflict resolution.
- Organize 3–5 career fairs or networking events per year, ensuring high student attendance and employer satisfaction.
- Deliver and coordinate over 20 employability workshops annually in areas such as CV writing, interview preparation, and LinkedIn optimization.
- Ensure placements are in compliance with UAE labor law and DMU policies.
- Maintain and manage digital job portals and alumni tracking systems with accurate, up-to-date content.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Careers Manager on special projects and student employability initiatives.
Candidate Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Education, or a related field (Required)
Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in careers services, employer relations, recruitment, or student employability support (Required)
- Familiarity with UAE/GCC labor markets and placement regulations (Desirable)
Skills & Attributes:
- Proven ability to build and manage partnerships with corporate and industry partners (Required)
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple career-related events and placement processes (Required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage students, employers, and internal teams (Required)
- Competence in Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, and digital platforms for events and database management (Required)
- Experience with data entry, CRM tools, or employment tracking software (Required)
- Ability to support a diverse student body with professionalism and cultural sensitivity (Required)
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and employer meetings (Required)
