De Montfort University Dubai is seeking talented and experienced individuals to join the Faculty of Business and Law as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Economics and Finance. These full-time academic roles are ideal for individuals committed to delivering high-quality, globally relevant education within a UK higher education framework.
You will contribute to the design and delivery of innovative and practical modules in economics and finance, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in a dynamic, data-driven global economy. These roles support the continued growth of DMU Dubai’s business programmes and reflect a balance of academic excellence and market relevance.
Key Responsibilities
For Both Lecturer and Senior Lecturer:
- Teach and assess economics and finance modules at foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels.
- Deliver content across key subject areas, including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics/Financial Statistics, and Financial Economics.
- Integrate statistical and analytical tools such as R, Python, Power BI, Tableau, and Advanced Excel/VBA into module delivery.
- Design course content and assessment strategies aligned with programme learning outcomes.
- Provide academic advising, dissertation supervision, and student mentorship.
- Contribute to student recruitment, open-day activities, and external engagement.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes student success.
Additional Responsibilities for Senior Lecturer:
- Lead curriculum development, programme design, and module coordination.
- Provide mentorship to junior academic staff and support academic leadership.
- Contribute to the faculty’s research output through publications, conference participation, and grant development.
- Support consultancy and income-generating activities where appropriate.
- Assume programme leadership and other academic administrative responsibilities.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or a closely related discipline (Required for both roles).
- A PhD in Economics, Finance, or a related area is Essential for Senior Lecturer and Desirable for Lecturer.
- For Lecturer roles, in the absence of a PhD, a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CFA) is required.
- All academic qualifications must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or be eligible for attestation upon offer.
- Candidates must also ensure their qualifications are eligible for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency or be willing to initiate the process upon appointment.
Experience:
- Lecturer: 2–4 years of teaching experience in higher education, preferably within a UK HE context.
- Senior Lecturer: More than 4 years of teaching experience in higher education, including curriculum development or module leadership.
- Proven teaching experience in at least three of the following subject areas:
- Microeconomics
- Macroeconomics
- Econometrics / Financial Statistics
- Financial Economics
- Proficiency with statistical and data visualisation tools such as R, Python, Tableau, Power BI, and Excel/VBA.
- Experience contributing to curriculum design, innovation in pedagogy, and research output (Required for Senior Lecturer; Desirable for Lecturer).
