De Montfort University Dubai is seeking a qualified and motivated Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Criminology to join our growing Psychology portfolio within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. This position will contribute to the delivery of modules related to criminology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supporting students in developing a critical understanding of justice systems, social behaviour, and criminological theories within a global context. Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and assess criminology modules at the undergraduate as well as postgraduate level.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects.
  • Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and personal tutoring support to students.
  • Contribute to the design, contextualization, review, and enhancement of criminology-related content to ensure alignment with UAE laws, policies, and cultural sensitivities.
  • Participate in Programme meetings, recruitment events, open days, and quality assurance processes.
  • Engage in scholarly activity, research, or professional practice aligned with criminology or related fields.
  • Support collaboration across Programmes and contribute to the university’s outreach effort.

Candidate Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Criminology, Clinical Psychology with Criminology, or a closely related discipline (required)
  • All academic qualifications must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or be eligible for attestation upon offer of employment (required)
  • Candidates must also ensure their qualifications are eligible for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency.
Experience:
  • 1–3 years of relevant teaching experience in higher education for Lecturer positions (required), and 3+ years of teaching, research, and academic leadership experience in higher education, within a UK or UK-aligned academic environment, for Senior Lecturer positions (required).
  • Proven or emerging experience in teaching criminology at undergraduate or postgraduate level
  • Familiarity with the UK higher education system and an understanding of the cultural context in the UAE (required)
  • Experience with curriculum contextualization, development and student supervision (Desirable)
  • Minimum of 2 Scopus-indexed research publications relevant to criminology or related fields (desirable)
